THE ISSUES

Whatever matters to you - education, taxes, pension reform, infrastructure, individual rights, or one of the countless other issues that impact our every day lives, Michelle wants to hear from you. Take a look at just a few of the issues here, and Michelle's positions, and send her a message on the contact page to share your issues.

Healthcare

Working Middle Class & Unions

Education

Taxes

Healthcare

Michelle will fight to protect essential health services that support our local families like mental health care, elder care, and hospital services. Michelle also is a staunch supporter for those with pre-existing conditions so they cannot be denied insurance or charged with double-digit premium increases.

Working Middle Class & Unions

Michelle knows firsthand the need to take back our economy and restore the basic contract with the middle class by maintaining an honest living wage and prioritizing Illinois workers over corporations. Michelle recognizes strong unions are critical to ensuring basic worker rights and healthy wages are not written off in pursuit of the highest profit margins.

Education

Education is the core of our communities. It ensures a successful, thriving future, through the success and well-being of our children. Michelle will fight for education reform, and for tested and proven strategies for each of our children's unique abilities.

Taxes

Michelle will fight for tax relief for middle-class families by demanding the ultra-wealthy and corporations pay their fair share in taxes. She will also fight to make sure the state is properly funding our local schools, a critical first step toward real property tax relief.

Women's Health, Equality, & Autonomy

Michelle has been a life-long champion for women's rights and is committed to fighting for gender equality. This includes protecting women's access to the full range of health care choices available, equal pay, family leave, domestic violence and sexual assault prevention and treatment.

Pension Reform

Michelle will work to better balance the needs of those who serve our state during retirement and the critical need to reduce our state's debt burden. She will look for solutions that won't leave anyone behind, like disallowing multiple pensions per person, and delaying pension payments until retirement age.

Infrastructure

People of the 37th need to know that the safety and usability of our roads, highways, bridges, and buildings are being taken care of. Michelle will not only make sure top standards are being met for our infrastructure, but that they are updated to the best materials to ensure longevity, sustainability, and improved value for our communities and local property values.

Climate

Climate Change is reaching crisis levels. Michelle supports the Clean Energy Jobs Act, which commits Illinois to 100% renewable energy by 2050, cuts carbon from the power sector by 2030, reduces gas and diesel vehicles from the transportation sector, and creates jobs and economic opportunity.
